Straddling Bus System!

China has invented a new public bus transportation system. This bus is open in the middle so cars can drive through it and the people can sit on the top of the bus. It straddles the edges of the road and is a solution to congested roads. This bus is powered by both solar power panels and electricity. It travels at a speed of 25 miles per hour, and it can reduce traffic jams up to 30%. This straddling bus holds up to 1,200 passengers. It could replace up to 40 regular city buses.
I do agree with the article because it not only is more efficient but it saves gas. This is a good way to stop traffic jams in tight congested areas. When we went to New York this summer, it took us forever to get around because of taxis and buses. If they would of had a straddling bus, cars could just drive right through it. My opinion is that it could save both time and money. It is a very clever idea.

How to Loose a Guy in 10 days

Make your own slide show at Animoto.

Bennys job is in the advertising market, and he made a bet with his friends that he could make a girl fall in love with him in less than 10 days. Andie works for a magazine and her job is to write an article on "How to Loose a Guy in 10 Days." After these tasks have been assigned they meet in a bar shortly afterwards. Coincidently, they end up choosing each other for their assignments. Benny tries to make Andie like him, while Andie tries to get him to break up with her. You will have to see the movie to find out what happens next!

Thanksgiving! :)

I am happy that I have a family who cares about me and supports me in everything I do. They help me get through a lot. When I am stressed they cheer up my mood. I am also thankful that I have a good home life. There is always supper on the table and whenever I want to go somewhere or do something I usually get to do it. My parents buy me clothes and other necessities. I appreciate the men and women who fight for our freedom. Without them America would not be what it is today and we would not have as many rights. Last but not least, I value the church family I have. They helped me understand God's plans for me. I feel comfortable and closer to god when I am with them. It is way to easy to take things for granted, we need to take a step back and look at the things that we should be grateful for.

A Ghostly Night

This is one of the Urban Legends that I thought sounded interesting. When a babysitter called the parents who hired her to ask if she can cover up the clown statue in the room where she's watching TV because it

disturbs her. Then the parents tell her to call 911, grab the children, and get out of the house immediately! My best Halloween costume was when I dressed up as a dead girl. I had a black wig with a black cloak. Then I painted my face white, it looked really spooky.

The scariest thing I did for Halloween was one year we went to the haunted maze. It was a corn field, but it was plowed out so it was a maze. We had to start in the center, and try to get out. The whole time zombies and ghosts were chasing us and popping out of random places. If you did not run fast enough they would get you. It was so scary, I do not think I would ever do it again. I am deathly afraid of spiders and weird looking insects. If I see one in my house I will scream and point at it, jumping up and down. Until, someone comes in and kills it. Halloween is probably my least favorite holiday because it is really creepy and dark.

Social Media in School

Studies have shown that over 75% of students are using a social media website of some kind. Most schools ban students from getting on facebook, twitter, etc. during the school hours. Social media could be used in schools so students can ask each other questions about. There are ways to incorporate social networking tools in class. It could be used for online assignments that can be done at school or at home. This will encourage students to interact with each other, and be focused on schoolwork at the same time. Using social media sites in school will mix education and social development, which is what most school are wanting. Most students will be motivated to know they can help their friends with schoolwork, but have a social life as well.
There are many positive reasons to use social media in school one of those things is getting the parents engaged in the activities the class is doing. Also, it would help to keep them informed of the upcoming events. It may even help the students get there work done or be a reminder because most students go online at night. If they are already online then they will probably remember to do their schoolwork. The shy kids in class might feel more comfortable knowing that they can contribute to the class discussion by typing it out then having to announce it to the class. It is also a quick and easy way to make up your schoolwork if you are absent for the day because you will be involved in the class discussion. Overall, social media in school has many benefits and it should at least be considered by many schools.

September 11th

All I remember from 9/11 was that I rode the bus. When I got to school, I remember my teacher listening to the radio. All the teachers were in each others rooms talking. At that time I was not sure what it was about. My parents went to work. And my mom did not want to tell me and my brother what was happening because she was afraid it would scare us. Also, my mom told me many of the teachers were watching the news all day to see any updates. The only thing I understood was that a plane hit a building, but I thought it was nothing too serious. I wish I was older when the 9/11 attack happened so I could understand everything and know more about it.

Technology as it is today!

*What new technology could you not live without?
I do not think I could live without a computer to google things, also my ipod touch is almost always with me. Things we use everyday like the dishwasher, oven, and washing machine saves us so much time.

*Has technology changed society?
Technology has made society more dependent, but it also helps to get things done faster. People assume technology can fix all of their problems.

*Is technology a good or bad thing?
I think technology has pros and cons. America has relied on technology for almost everything. So when something electronic breaks they just stand around and wait for it to get fixed, they don't try to find another solution. It is good because it saves us time and sometimes does a better job than we could have done ourselves.

*Has technology made us more impatient or obsessed?
I think people loose their patients so much more easily because they grow up with the newest electronics. Every time a new technology item comes out it is newer and more improved than the last one. People are used to getting on the computer and not having to wait less than 3 seconds for the website to pop up.

*Mark Kennedy said: "All of the biggest technological inventions created
by man - the airplane, the automobile, the computer - say little about
his intelligence, but speak volumes about his laziness." Do you agree?
I think we almost get all of our information from technology and it makes things so much more easier for people. I can see how it made people lazy. Because they do not have to get up and do things for themselves electronics and technology does it for them.

Summer Time! =D

This summer, I spent the whole month of June and the rest of May, taking drivers ed. Our family took a road trip to Missouri, and we stayed at my grandparent's time share. We went to many plays, water parks, and we got to see Ripleys Believe it or not. I also went to Washington, D.C. with our class in July. We got to see the Washington Monument, the White House, the Capital, and the Pentagon. Earlier this month, I went to the Straw Poll with my aunt and brother. It was cool to see all of the candidates that wanted to or were going to run for president. This past week my family and I went to the Iowa State Fair. It was crazy busy, and we got to take a picture with Sarah Palin. I spent most of my summer swimming and hanging out with friends. Summer 2011 was by far one of the best summers.
